Also, on other news, my new website is coming along. If all goes to plan it’ll be much more straight forward and easier to update (I really hope so).

I just received samples of the Theatre Royal’s events calendar featuring my work on the cover and inside! The print run is 130,000 so that’s a lot of people seeing my Victorian lady doing her “exercises”.

The performance is called “In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play)”. Perfect! I only wish I could see it!

A lovely woman over at Bubblegum and Duct Tape wrote a very nice article on me and thought I’d share it with you!

Even though I’ve worked on cartoons for years, it’s funny how excited I am seeing my illustration on TV even though it’s tiny and not even shown in the same country!

After finishing the previous piece “Dark Matter -Ramona” I decided that it would be fun to do more ‘scary kid’ stuff. I’m keeping them small too, this one for instance is 5 x 7″. I’m also incorporating friends as well which I’ll post once they’re done.

This little girl doesn’t have a name yet and I’m not sure if she’s met her demise on those tracks or if she’s the cause of an accident. Maybe both? She’s mischievous for sure! I’m just at the pencil stage with her but now I’m trying to decide if I should just finish her off in graphite or paint her.

After a fairly long break, I’ve been asked to do a little piece for a show at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco called “The New Surrealism : A Collection of Strange”. Even though I felt a bit rusty, I gotta say it was nice to have a real brush in my hand rather than a Wacom stylus!

I STILL haven’t found a latch for the front but at least I’ve gotten past the 80′s heavy metal look it had when the rivets were silver -yikes! I may have liked ‘Priest as a kid but it’s not the sort of thing I’m going for.

I’m wondering if I’ll ‘age’ the structure, I don’t mind the flat black truthfully but more importantly, I should finish off the bloody painting!!

I haven’t thought of a title yet either…

Better late than never? Hmmmm.

I finally received my wood structure! I had this built to my designs but unfortunately I’ve been running into some issues with it. Thinking there might be problems, I had put the order in before Christmas. Little did I know that my first obstacle would be not receiving it for 3 months or so.

Second problem: paintings didn’t fit in the doors. The art was about 1/8 too big all around so I had to have the edges trimmed a bit. It still is rather tight so I may have to *gulp* sand down the actual paintings. You can imagine how thrilled I am with this thought. My third head banger is the rain. Originally I was going to cover the entire piece with thin sheet metal then finish it to look aged, like an old warbird but the metal turns out to be more difficult to work with than I thought especially since the outer edge is curved so instead I thought it would be better to paint it metallic THEN add a few metal panels, rivets, etc. and give the whole thing a faux finish. This is the basic idea of what it should look like just a bit more beaten up. I’m fine with this new approached but it WON’T STOP RAINING and I have nowhere to spray paint and sand except my patio!

I AM enjoying the project on the most part as much as I gripe. I just wish I would have hit these walls a little earlier because the last thing I want to feel is rushed which is EXACTLY how I’m feeling now! I’ve only got a few days left!!!!!

My incredibly talented friend, Karen Lam, wrote and directed her first feature recently, and this is it! I’m so excited for her and I just know that this will be the first of many, many projects she’ll do.

I’m not entirely sure where you’ll see this creepy flick yet, but the site and trailer are up and running so it’s time to start showing it!
